Measures
PROMIS measures are grounded in a unifying conceptual model of physical, mental, and social health and are developed and validated using modern psychometric methods. The authoritative source for the PROMIS conceptual model, instrument development and validation, and technical documentation is HealthMeasures, in collaboration with the PROMIS Health Organization.
This page summarises PROMIS instruments that have been translated, used, or validated in Hungary and explains how official instruments, translations, scoring materials, and implementation guidance can be accessed through HealthMeasures.
How to obtain PROMIS measures and translations
PROMIS Hungary supports access to approved Hungarian language PROMIS instruments for single language studies conducted in Hungary. Official instruments, translations, and scoring materials are maintained and distributed through HealthMeasures using established PROMIS translation and governance procedures.
Use is subject to our terms and conditions . Enquiries regarding Hungary specific access pathways should be directed to the PROMIS Hungary team by email (contact@promishungary.org).
For PROMIS measures in other languages or for multi language studies, permissions and access must be requested through HealthMeasures .
Instrument structure and measurement approach
PROMIS instruments are organised into item banks representing specific health domains. Measures can be administered as fixed length short forms or as Computer Adaptive Tests. Both approaches are based on Item Response Theory, allowing efficient and precise measurement across a wide range of symptom severity and functional ability.
Detailed explanations of Item Response Theory, short forms, and Computer Adaptive Testing are available via HealthMeasures measurement science resources.

Scoring, reference values, and cross walks
PROMIS scoring is based on Item Response Theory calibrated item banks. Scoring manuals, reference values, score interpretation guidance, and automated scoring services are provided through HealthMeasures.

Links between PROMIS scores and selected legacy instruments are available via cross walk initiatives, including PROsetta Stone: https://www.prosettastone.org/measures/Pages/default.aspx
Implementation and data collection platforms
PROMIS measures can be integrated into electronic data collection platforms, including systems that support Computer Adaptive Testing. Technical requirements for platform integration, CAT administration, and automated scoring are defined by HealthMeasures.
